A point on the straight line, 3 x + 5 y = 15 which is equidistant from the coordinate axes will lie only in:

A point on the straight line, 3x+5y=15 which is equidistant from the coordinate axes will lie only in:
  1. 1st and 2nd  quadrants
  2. $1^{st}$, $2^{nd}$, and $4^{th}$ quadrants
  3. 1st quadrant
  4. 4th quadrant

Solution

Let a,a be a point on the line 3x+5y=15

3a+5a=15

a=158

  Point is 158 ,158 which lies in 1st  quadrant

Again, Let -a,a be a point on the line

      3x+5y=15

-3a+5a=15

a=152

  Point is -152 ,152 which lies in 2nd  quadrant

Hence, required point lies in1st and 2nd  quadrants.
