A nucleus of mass M at rest splits into two parts having masses M'3 and 2M'3M'<M. The ratio of de Broglie wavelength of two parts will be

Solution

Since the initial momentum of the system is zero. To keep the final momentum zero, the momentum of both parts should be equal and opposite in direction.

Here P is momentum

De-Broglie wavelength is given by λ=hP

Therefore, λ1:λ2=1:1.
