A ribozyme is a ribonucleic acid (RNA) enzyme that catalyses a chemical reaction. It is also called catalytic RNA, ribozymes are found in the ribosome where they join amino acids to form protein chains. In the bacterial ribosomes, 23S rRNA of the large subunit of ribosome helps in forming the peptide bond during prokaryotic translation.
