A line, with the slope greater than one, passes through the point A4,3 and intersects the line x-y-2=0 at the point B. If the length of the line segment AB is 293, then B also lies on the line
  1. 2x+y=9
  2. 3x-2y=7
  3. x+2y=6
  4. 2x-3y=3

Solution

Given point B lie on the line x-y-2=0, so the point will be Bx1,x1-2

Now given distance between AB is  293, so by distance formula,

x1-42+x1-2-32=293

Now on squaring on both side we get,

18x12-162x1+340=0

On solving we get, x1=519 or x1=103

So, y1=339 or y1=43

Now we can see only x+2y=6 will satisfy the point 103,43
