A line has slope m and y-intercept 4. The distance between the origin and the line is equal to
  1. 41-m2
  2. 4m2-1
  3. 4m2+1
  4. 4m1+m2

Solution

Given, the line with slope m and y intercept 4.

As we know by the slope-intercept form of a line, a line with a slope m and y intercept c, the equation of the line is y=mx+c.

The equation of the line is y=mx+4.

Also, the distance between a point x1,y1 and a line ax+by+c=0 is given by ax1+by1+ca2+b2 units.

The distance between origin and the line y=mx+4 =41+m2.
