The orbital time period for a satellite is T=2πr3GME here, r is the orbital radius, therefore, Tr32

As the satellite is geostationary, therefore, the time period of the satellite is 24 hrs or T1=24 hrs

Now, if T2 is the time period of the satellite in new orbit r2 the ratio of the time period for the satellite in both cases is,

T1T2=r1r232T2=T12r1r132       given, r2=2r1T2=24×232=482 hrs
