A current carrying square loop is placed near a straight infinitely long current carrying wire as shown in figure. The torque acting on the loop is

  1. μ02πi1i2lab
  2. μ02πi1i2la(a+b)
  3. μ02πi1i2i(b-a)ab
  4. 0

Solution

Recall the formula of torque due to current carrying loop is,

ζ=NiABsinθ, here N, i, A & B are a number of turns, current in the coil, area of the coil and magnetic field here θ is the angle between area vector and direction of the magnetic field which is 0° (by using right hand thum rule) so torque will be zero.
