A cubical vessel of side 1 m is filled completely with water. How many millilitres of water is contained in it (neglect thickness of the vessel)?

Solution

Volume of the cube = side × side × side = $1 \times 1 \times 1 = 1$ cubic metre. Since 1 cubic metre = 1000 litres and 1 litre = 1000 millilitres, 1 cubic metre = $1000 \times 1000 = 1000000$ millilitres.
